Girls' Day on 15.04.2019
The Girls' Day at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and Geodesy, aimed at female upper school pupils, took place on 15 April 2019, the first day of the Easter holidays. Several institutes opened their doors and gave the girls an insight into the world of science.
With the girls, we visited the satellite control room at the IRS, communicated with the self-made satellite "Flying Laptop" during its overflight and took a walk in a state of zero gravity on the ISS with the help of virtual reality glasses.
At the IFB, we were shown the manufacturing processes of high-tech materials at various stations and the IAG helped to explain the aerodynamics of the wings of planes through small experiments. At the end of this, the girls had the opportunity to start and land an Airbus A320 in the flight simulator at the ILS.
Once the official program completed, the girls had time to chat with members of the student body and research assistants during a barbecue get-together.
