In the context of electromobility, they play a crucial role in vehicle thermal management. A thorough understanding of the underlying physical mechanisms is essential for accurate modeling and the development of competitive products.\nThis lecture introduces the fundamentals of multiphase flows and discusses the reasons for their high complexity, arising from the interaction of different phases and scales. Practical examples will be used to illustrate the relevant physical processes. In addition, established simulation approaches will be presented together with exemplary industrial applications in the field of electromobility.\nHon.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Steffen Schlottke is an honorary professor at the Universität Stuttgart and an expert in fluid dynamics simulation and multiphase flows at MAHLE International GmbH.
