We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Ulrich Walter. The former science astronaut was a member of NASA's STS-55 mission aboard the space shuttle Columbia in 1993, spending ten days in space and conducting numerous experiments in the Spacelab space laboratory. After his active career as an astronaut, he became a professor of space technology at the Technical University of Munich and is now one of Germany's best-known science communicators – both on television and as a bestselling author.
In his lecture “Himmel nochmal – ein Astronaut packt aus” (Heaven again – an astronaut spills the beans), Ulrich Walter takes us behind the scenes of space travel. He talks about how astronauts actually live, work, and train, the technical and human challenges of a mission, and the surprising insights that can only be gained by viewing our planet from an altitude of 300 kilometers.
An exciting, humorous, and inspiring insight into real life in space!
After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to get an autograph or have a personal conversation with Ulrich Walter.
The event will be held in a hybrid format. Registrations can be made in the section below. The registration limit applies to both online and on-site participation. The lecture will take place in room 47.02 and will be streamed to another neighboring lecture hall if necessary.
